James Hugh Joseph Tate (April 10, 1910 – May 27, 1983) was an American politician.A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 92nd Mayor of Philadelphia from 1962 to 1972.
He was also a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Philadelphia City Council.He was the first Roman Catholic to serve as mayor of Philadelphia.
